Answering the call…

After much quiet time and prayer, in January 2017 I heard a message as clear as day. It said, “Get here.”  We’d considered moving to south Flordia before but this message had no later stamped on it.  It was simple directions.  I was a Manager at a restaurant at the time and doing my best to survive in Durham, NC. But I wasn’t happy because I wasn’t living my truth. I knew I was born to Write Share Love and my mind and heart were too cluttered to see how to move forward in peace. And there was no pause button while I figured things out.  I needed a reset button. When the message came to me, I only told a few people. Most wouldn’t understand the necessity or be compassionate about the pain I was living in. With the help of my parents, the advice of my brother and the blessings of the Most High, the children and I loaded up our Honda Crosstour and headed down 95 South.

We celebrated our 4 year migration anniversary to Fort Lauderdale on February 25th. It’s been a beautiful journey with so many angels that stepped up to cover us in times of need. We answered this calling and South Florida allowed me to breathe, reset and align with my purpose once again.  Sunshine, beach access and opportunity made all the difference. There still wasn’t a pause button, but answering the call gave me the confidence in my intuition to keep going and trusting that inner voice. I missed so many callings in life before. Opportunities that I took too long to consider or never followed up on. This time I am standing in it and pressing towards the goal of being a full time writer and curriculum creator.

The CUAY journey for my family started in 2017, but the book didn’t begin to be written until 2019. So much has happened in this time that has only seasoned my walk and motivated the mission to share our experience with Cleaning Up After Yourself with the world.  CUAY will be released on March 30th, 2021. I pray that parents find it as a relief for their families’ shared accountability, that youth are empowered by the teachings, and singles enjoy more peace in their solo dwellings after reading it. But most of all, I pray that it inspires others to answer their own calling and live the life they seek out loud.

Save the date to the get the book and drop by the virtual launch that day to say hello.

About S. Denise King

Is the scene serene? That’s the basic question before you move on from that room or leave home for the day. If it’s not serene, you should circle back to remove any lingering signs of you that don’t belong or make it better than you found it. I am S. Denise King and here I will be discussing the ins and outs of CUAYing in our community forum.  Leave a comment and share your experiences with CUAYing too.
