Life Insurance

In October 2018 my father transitioned. He was a Vietnam Veteran and a 30 year firefighter. We weren’t educated in life insurance, so I hadn’t urged him to invest or inquired enough to see how much if any death benefits he was working with. We later learned that he had only maintained accidental death insurance, which wouldn’t cover death by natural causes.

Basically, there was no claim or benefits from those numerous policies. Thankfully the fire department continued to carry a little something for him, so he had $5,000.00 in life insurance at the time of his passing. We arranged a humble funeral and his burial location was covered as a veteran. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have had enough to even bury him.

Two years later in October 2020, my only sibling and big brother transition at the age of 46. He was self employed as a graphic, visual, and photography artist and didn’t have any life insurance. He left 5 children and one grandchild, now two grands behind. Our family gathered what we could and traveled to Texas for his memorial, but I couldn’t help but to think of the relief of pressure life insurance would have been for us during that time.

I quickly found an agent to get a policy for my children and I, and have maintained them faithfully since. Still without the proper education I realized I had been over paying for life insurance that didn’t even offer us living benefits if we needed it. So again the lack of education was costing my family in life and in death. I decided to become an agent and help other families avoid this pitfall.

About S. Denise King

Is the scene serene? That’s the basic question before you move on from that room or leave home for the day. If it’s not serene, you should circle back to remove any lingering signs of you that don’t belong or make it better than you found it. I am S. Denise King and here I will be discussing the ins and outs of CUAYing in our community forum.  Leave a comment and share your experiences with CUAYing too.
